Community Catalyst

Community Catalyst is a national non-profit advocacy organization established in 1997 to increase consumer participation in shaping the health care system.  It fulfills this mission by providing leadership and technical support to state and local organizations, policymakers, and foundations that are working to meet the health care needs of vulnerable constituencies.  Its staff of experienced policy analysts, attorneys, organizers, and organizational development specialists have worked in partnership with groups in over 30 states, helping them achieve wide-ranging substantive policy reforms and building capacity, influence and power in the process.

Community Catalyst was founded as the successor to the Massachusetts office of Families USA.  Among the national foundations supporting its work are the W. K. Kellogg, Ford, Public Welfare, Nathan Cummings, John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur, Annie E. Casey Foundation, Rockefeller Family, and George Gund foundations, the Atlantic Philanthropies, and the Pew Charitable Trusts.

IMAP supports research on the past, present, and future roles of professionalism in guiding individual and collective behavior. It aims to make professionalism relevant to physicians, leaders of medical organizations, policy analysts, public officials, and consumers.  IMAP’s programmatic agenda is carried out through the Center on Medicine as a Profession of Columbia University.
